Things will never be the same. What once was, will never be again...
THINGS LEFT UNDONE (July 11, 2013)
The room is empty, the bed undone, the sheets lying in a heap by the pillow. The closet is open overflowing with the things belonging to him but no longer in use. He has left us, left us too soon and here I am trying to pick up the pieces, trying to make things as they should have been with him here. But things will never be spotless, the bed will never be made, and there will always be chaos because there is no one here but emptiness and the presence of what once was, never to be again.
This piece was written for my writing class exercise. Where we were given the phrase what have I left undone? and an image of an unmade bed. We had to use these prompts to write a piece in five minutes. Whatever came to us after looking at the image and hearing the phrase we had to write. What I've shared above is what I had written. This is unedited. Please let me know what you think.
Wow I really like this one. Bringing the whole idea of a man leaving was a surprise for me but very very interesting and I think there could be a lot of possibilities with this one.
