When I first started working on my recipe for monkey bread, I wasted enough rolls to feed half the hungry kids in Charlotte.  I wanted to use butterscotch pudding for flavor and really wanted to make this work.  But I couldn't seem to get all of the rolls to cook.  Especially those near the center of the pan.  After a dozen tries, it dawned on me.  I was packing them too tightly.  They weren't getting the heat needed to cook them.  So if you try this recipe, which can be found on page 50 of Stir, Laugh, Repeat, place the rolls lightly on top of each other.
