preacher
saw the cigar
as big as a dynamite
stick laid on the mercantile
counter along side four Morgan
Silver Dollars, The Sundance Wives
came in from the gates of Doogun
Hill came to settle their bill,

preacher stood
in the corner, he
had just washed the
brass spittoon and cleaned
the mouths of heathens when
in walked the whores of Madam
Antonella,

preacher brought
his hand down hard
on the four Morgan Silver
Dollars, "silver never failed
to separate the unwary gambler
from her outlaw dollar, the sun
dances evil upon your Wives souls,"

The Sundance
Wives kept a mindful
distance, whiskey seal
cracked open, poured a
round, listened to God's
sermon carrier once more,
farrier was about to nail
preacher a new horseshoe,

"the whore
has Sin between
her legs, raises the
appendage of Satan,
whore commune with your
Maker," preacher spoke, when
in ripped bullets puncturing the
whiskey kegs,

The Sundance
Wives threw the
Morgan Silver Dollars
out into the street, Pussy
bought safety to the bible,
Lady Liberty frees religion,
the night moves revival,

"we want
preacher, the
wrath of Satan
has come to collect,"
the vigilante voices
echoed a blood bath,

"take
the Ministry
of the Morgan
Silver Dollar in
his place, live or
die, it's your day
of fate," The Sundance
Wives pulled the disguised
sleeve off the cigar, lit the fuse
on the dynamite,

the street
cleared, the
brass spittoon
back in business,
the whores on it,
garters and lace,
giving face, tucked
up The Sundance Wives
sleeves is the Ace, printing
presses roll, a place of meeting
between the sheets, the night
moves revival,

Ask yourself
why The Sundance
Wives spared the life
of a preacher? Religion
or survival? Could it be
the vigilantes wanted the
gold preacher took from the
ones Pick and Ax in the gallows?
Or the wife he took from the one?
A cliffhangar dangles...

"Thus it is that the preacher escaped to die another day." Nicely put together Sage. Are we as God's children so engrossed with the worth of a dollar that we forget the worth of a person? That is pretty shallow if we have. Thank you for sharing, Sister Sage, this piece that makes us as readers, think.

Love & hugs,

Yes indeed, a cliff hanger does dangle / One of the things I found out very early when I began reading you was that I LOVED how you punctuate your stories, poems, books, etc. with items and things from a long ago era, some of which I even remember / Things you find in blacksmith shops and mercantile store, old whiskey set to verse / It is the down in the trenches with these things that give your writing a tenor that only Sage Sweetwater has, everyone else is a copycat.
