I woke up at 9am Christmas morning and jumped out of bed. It was the one day of the year I got out of bed early. I woke my parents and ran down to open all my presents. I got clothes and Hello Kitty runners. I was delighted.
The one thing missing was my boyfriend, Bill. He was still in LA over the holidays and I missed him so much but knew we would chat on Skype later. It was only 4am his time so I had to wait awhile.
After breakfast of cheese on toast, I went back to Bed for a little while. I was just falling asleep when the doorbell rang. Then it rang again, and again. No one seemed to be answering. Grumbling, I got up and went to answer it.
Imagine my surprise on opening the door to see Bill standing there! "Oh my God," I cried, "what are you doing here?!"
"I had to see you," he said. "It wouldn't be Christmas without you."
"Aww," I said.
Then to my even bigger surprise, he bent down on one knee. "Bill, what are you doing?"
"I love you Nicola. Will you make me the happiest man on earth and marry me?"
"Oh my God, of course, I will. I will!" I shouted while throwing myself at him. He was still kneeling down and we both toppled over and landed in a heap on the ground, our arms around each other, giggling like mad. "I love you too," I told him.
Just then we looked up to see my parents standing at the door. "Well," my mam asked, " have you something to tell us?"
"You knew!" I said and they both nodded, grinning widely. Just then Bill took a box out of his pocket and presented it to me. It was the most beautiful ring I'd ever seen, with pink and purple stones. "It's awesome," I said, and kissed him.
Later on, after dinner, Bill said he had another present for me. "Bill," I said, "you don't have to."
"Oh but you're gonna love this." He handed me a parcel, which I opened to find a dvd inside. I immediately went my DVD player and put it on. Amy Lee appeared on the screen with the following message.
"Hi Nikki, it's Amy Lee. Wishing you a wonderful Christmas, I hope you get all you want. And I hope congratulations are in order too. Be good, and have a great day, love Amy."
"You're right," I said, "I do love it!" Bill grinned, delighted with himself. "Well, let's go drink ourselves silly," I said. So we did, and had the best Christmas ever together!
