I can tell you I did not think in terms of my emotional journey until recently. Really it was in April of this year after a lady from one of my online groups asked a question. She wanted to know what a couple of teachers in spirituality and metaphysics – Neville and Abraham – offered for helping people move beyond the practice and impact of domestic violence.
With the lady’s question in mind, I looked at the Abraham scale of emotions very closely and considered a repeated feature in the Abraham workshops – the idea of reaching for better and better feeling thoughts. I practiced with the scale before sending it to her. I noticed how I felt when I moved from one better feeling thought to the next.
I started at the very lowest feeling thought, thinking from my powerlessness to stop injustices I had seen too often throughout our society. From my physical focus, I realized I had no idea how to bring about change. I knew those with oversight would not listen to me, and I had seen their approaches were so ineffective. Thinking about writing protest letters or signing petitions against them made me feel better; that’s one way to express my anger! Thinking about my angry was a better feeling; it was far better than thinking how powerless I was. Finding someone to blame was an even better feeling.
I noticed the better feeling was short lived through these feeling thoughts. More importantly, I saw a connection between the fear-grief-depression-despair-powerlessness feeling thoughts and domestic violence. All parties in the domestic violence scenario want to feel better. And rage, revenge and anger are better feeling thoughts. But to act on these feeling thoughts creates pain, both physical and emotional, driving all the parties back into powerlessness.
Making a decision to act when in the feeling thoughts of rage, revenge or anger incite violence and these actions occurring in the family incites domestic violence. Thinking thoughts to justify acting on these decisions increases the momentum, with violence and its consequences as the logical next steps. The greater the momentum increases the likelihood of violence: sustained attention to “what the persons did” includes these vibrations in the vibrations of all the parties.
I had a major learning at this stage of my emotional journey. Realizing types of decisions made at each feeling thought, only one decision leads to fun and happiness for everyone in feeling thoughts below line #7 (contentment). That one decision is to reach for the next better feeling thought, and then the next, and the next and the next; feeling the shift from one vibration to the next better feeling vibration, offering higher and higher vibrations to the Law of Attraction who responds with corresponding experiences and all the necessary cooperative components.
In addition to making the decision to continually reach for better feeling thoughts, I gave thought to my non-physical focus when I had used my physical focus to think of injustices and my sense of powerlessness. I knew I did not like the injustices or feeling powerless. I know the perspective of my non-physical focus is universal, infinite, omnipresent and omnipotent, recognizing all is well and everything is working out for me. I know the Law of Attraction responds to vibrations my non-physical focus offers: joy, clarity, empowerment, freedom, love and appreciation.
So the thought of my powerlessness and the injustices activates vibrations of clarity, freedom, and empowerment, and my most obvious desires, setting the course for my emotional journey. And I move along my emotional journey shifting my focus from the vibration of powerlessness to the vibration of clarity, empowerment and freedom. Including these vibrations in my very own vibration, I practice these vibrations as I create my worlds.
