Success Story
All my life I've been a story-teller. I lived in fantasy inside my head even when a very young child. The pretend world was more acceptable because I could be anyone I chose to be and any where my imagination carried me.
After a career in cosmetology I started writing again in 1998, and began to submit work in 2003. I wrote for a local magazine, Seniors, until the magazine no longer was published. I won a National Bronze Merit Award for my story, Here's Memories. It was one of my articles published in the Seniors magazine. Two of my stories, The Winter of a Mind, and A Ticket to the Past was sold in the next couple of years. In 2009, Firesides Publishers released my book, The Long Night Moon, and only a few months later, I won an Honorable Mention for my story, Odella, from Writer's Digest 82nd annual short story competition.
As of March of this year, 2016, Hartwood Publishers released my second full-length novel, The House On Sunflower Road. My story, Odella, was the impetus of finding this story. From Odella I was led to the characters who grace the pages of this book. And now in July of this year, 2016, my first book, The Long Night Moon, was edited and released again by my new publishers, Hartwood Publishing.
I am delighted that I have two books listed on Amazon, in digital and print format. The Long Night Moon is expected to be in print in the next few days.
Over the last twenty-five years, I have traveled a lot. I have traveled to South America, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, England, Italy, Greece, Turkey, and to the island of Patmos where I placed my hand in the carved out hole where St. John put his hand to help him rise from his bed. He lived in the Grotto where he wrote the book of Revelation, the last book in the King James version of the Bible.
I am passionate about traveling and learning, and am always on the outlook for an oddity that triggers a story.
