Penderan Fauste; maestro of contradiction. His intention was to follow his volatile father into the NSA. It wasn't to become one of Oxford's most celebrated professors of criminology; and certainly not one of the world's most notorious serial killers.
Excerpt
He is approaching the bench now, the apparently skittish young boy, sixteen, and… seven months, to be precise. His hair is quite careless, a bit too long on the sides, in need of cutting one might say, if one were to be so bold. It drapes ever so slightly over the left eye, so that as he turns to the side, it hides the angelic curve of his other facial features, exposing ice blue eyes, placing emphasis upon what is seemingly demonic. Now he takes the stand before him, giving a slight nod to the justice presiding. She clacks her gavel against its board. Only once.
“Today we are trying the case of The State of Virginia versus Penderan Fauste.” It rang in his ears.
“Pity the State,” Penderan says, under his breath.
