Mary J. Stevens, born an identical twin, is alive today because of the power of God in her  life and because of her identical twin.  This autobiography, enhanced by pictures, shows how Mary began to physically change into a monster through abnormal growth to face, hands, feet - caused by a pituitary tumor known as Acromegaly.  Internal damage enlarging the thyroid and colon adds to the health problems that Mary faced.   Although told by her neurosurgeon that she would probably not survive the craniotomy needed to remove the large tumor in 1968 - she did.  Doctors were surprised that she lived  past her 30's, yet she has.  When told she wouldn't be able to have any more children because they removed most of the pituitary gland - she did.

Growing up as an identical twin in an Irish Catholic home, Mary decided to dedicate her life to God and became a nun at 17 years of age. Health problems plagued her, including migrain headaches, exhaustion, nausea and abnormal growths on her extremities such as her nose, lips, hands and feet. While in the convent, most doctors told her she had the flu.  One doctor in the 50's had told her that she needed sex and volunteered to help her.  When his help was quickly rejected, he vehemently stated:  It's all in your head.  You're going to end up in a  mental institution.

Mary was advised continually to leave the convent.  Even though she was an excellent teacher, perhaps her health problems was a sign that she didn't belong.After 13 years, Mary left the convent, took a teaching position and the next year met Bob, whom she married in 1966.
