ABOUT THE BOOK
A work of fiction which has no resem blance to no living or dead persons, the book is a satire about a bunch of misfits who squat on Ward IV in the Hargeisa Group Hospital and play genuine patients by using fake gips, peglegs and crutches, in order to prolong their stay and turn the place into a beehive of activities that give the administration plenty of headache.
They do not only make it home, but their stronghold and a base to illi-cit their illegal trade from take- away foods, qat, alcohol, soft drugs and even a barbershop and laundry service. Like the Payment Ward, where the elite and super-rich are super-charged, here the underclass is under-charged. It reflects the contrast lifestyles of certain groups of society.
A Helluva Week is about life in ge- neral: a painful and sometimes funny account about doctors, patients, staff, corruption, medical short-ages, power cuts, romance, love, dreams, pain, frustration, despair and joy. It is a tug-of-war bewteen Isqor - a young deaf patient and volunteer and Dr Shermarke for the hand and heart of Dr. Luul and the spark of fire that follows. It is about the out-going chief doctor and a young man, who takesover the facility and is determined to kick some ass and throw out the people who slowly occupied his hospital.
