Scottish-born poet David Maclellan has lived most of his life in Australia. Memories of a childhood rich in the mischievous innocence of the 1950s, romance and love in the 1970s, the joy of fatherhood in the 1980s and finally the despair of divorce, tragedy and the seedy world of drugs in the streets of Sydney in the 1990s.  The new millennium brought time in prison for drug trafficking.  Only recently released from prison, his first book of poetry  ‘Take A Walk In My Shoes” gives an honest, raw and sometimes heart-wrenching accounts of one man’s fall into the depths of despair and his fight to regain his dignity and acceptance in an unforgiving society.

Walking in the shoes of David Maclellan will take the reader on a journey through memories of their own childhood, the joy of that first true love and the pride of parenthood.  From here the story turns rather dark.  Some experiences  the reader may relate to, but many  will be confronting and perhaps a little intriguing to see the subculture that exists in our society today.  Ultimately, it is hoped that this book of poetry will expose the dangers, the misery and the waste of life to anyone contemplating the wayward path. Take a walk in his shoes, but don’t go all the way.
