A realistic look at China in Revolution immediately after the long ordeal of suffering brought on by Japan's invasion in 1937. Several Nationalist characters, admirable and less honorable tell their stories to Lieutenant Phillip Cantor, who has withdrawn with the Nationalist government in Taiwan after Mao and the Communists are victorious.
Several peasant Communist supporters and PLA soldiers are also shown, and reveal the attraction that working for a new order in China had for them.
