hen I was a young girl, I wanted to be a star. I wanted to stand out. I wanted to be popular. I wanted people to remember my name. Some would say that I had “delusions of grandeur” which basically means I was probably living in a dream world.
Well, I grew up, and my dreams of superstardom were short-lived. I didn’t make it as a celebrity, but I still wanted so desperately to feel special. So, as a young adult 18-24 I went through relationship after relationship with boy after boy hoping that I would find the ONE that made me feel special. I felt like there was a black hole inside of me that could never be filled. I tried so hard to stuff it full of love, friends, sex, parties, and on occasion even drugs. But, no matter what I did that hole was never filled. Eventually I became a wife and then a mother. I have an amazing husband and great kids, but still part of me was never satisfied.
I was missing something deep within. It took me more than 20 years to figure out what it was. What I realize now is that I chased these things in order to fill up an empty space in my heart: a space that God left inside me just for Him.
Each of us has that space inside of us…a special place in our hearts that God leaves just for Him to fill. Most of us spend our lives trying to fill that space with other things. If this describes you, understand that it is God that you are seeking.
God designed every part of your being, mind, body and soul, and He loves you like no other. He loves you deeply, intimately and unconditionally. God also knows the deepest desires of your heart. He knows that you want to feel special. He knows that you want to stand out in this world, and He wants you to stand out too.
God wants you to be a shining star in this world, and so do I. So, I wrote this book for you, the teenage girl. By the time you are finished reading this book, you will know how to stand out in this world as a SHINING STAR! You will know how to SHINE!
