Thirty Days with the Lord's Prayer
Written by Marsha Halin it is a breakdown of the prayer Jesus taught us to pray. As I started to read I couldn't stop. It is a thirty day devotional that means to lead you to a closer relationship and walk with God. It is extremely well written, and has passages that you may look up, meditate and reflect upon. It really opens your eyes to the real heart felt meaning of the Lord's Prayer.
Not Overloaded with Fluff
The Lord's Prayer is one of those mantra prayers that we learn early in life, say at least once a week if we attend church and just flows off our tongues without having to think about it. I have even planned the afternoon dinner while the familiar words roll out again exactly like they did last time. I struggled at first with defining each word/phrase, but the thoughts are so simple and most importantly for me...SHORT! I am an independent thinker and a super busy woman. Making time for daily reflection tends to get lost in the overwhelming list of my day. I found this easy to pick up, read Marsha's thought, and even if I differed in opinion (which was rare yet completely expected) there was still enough time for me to quietly work it out with God the way we do it. Beaurtifully written and takes you deeper into the Lord's Prayer
Marsha has done a wonderful job of taking the reader deeper into the fullness and richness of the Lord's Prayer. It seems too many of us, myself included, have become robotic about reciting the prayer and not taken the time to deconstruct and really "pray" the prayer. How often do we say the Lord's Prayer from memory? At least once a week. And how often do you take the time to meditate on every verse? Every portion?
Mrs. Durken takes and divides the prayer into daily bite sizes that can be read in 10 minute devotional, or can inspire you in to a much longer investigative study to stat your day. She uses multiple verses that reinforce each element of this glorious prayer.
I recommend this book for individual reading, daily devotional, Bible Study, or small groups.
