Eric answered the phone, laid it to the side and went out to the pool. “Bren, phone call for you.”
Bren hurried to answer the phone. The voice on the phone greeted her. “Hello, Ms. Davies. You may refer to me as Dutch.”
A strong accent made understanding Dutch difficult and Bren had to listen closely. Eric tried not to listen to one side of the conversation, but he was very interested.
“Yes. That is possible. I will need a photo or some means to ID the target. Ok, I will watch my email. Yes, the R.O.B.I.N can be there in about thirty to forty-five minutes. I will start the process.” Bren hung up the phone.
Bren went to the computer console and began typing in some instruction.
“Well, what’s happening?” Eric inquired.
Bren hesitated for a moment. “You are going to get a demo of just what the R.O.B.I.N can do.” Bren continued working for a short while. She turned and picked up the lock box and opened it.
“What in the world is that?” Eric wanted to know.
“Hold out your hand.” Bren said. Eric did as she requested. Bren placed the R.O.B.I.N in Eric’s hand.
“Gee this thing is small.” Eric noted. “But just what does it do?”
Bren activated the R.O.B.I.N. Eric jumped slightly as he felt the R.O.B.I.N begin to vibrate. The R.O.B.I.N lifted from his hand and hovered there before him. “Holy crap!” Eric exclaimed.
“Open the door.” Bren instructed. “I have to manually fly the R.O.B.I.N to the outside, and then I will activate the auto sequence, which works off of satellite control. The R.O.B.I.N will travel to the preset coordinates and send us a signal when it arrives. Until then, we wait.”
Bren checked her email for the photo of the target. She sent the file to the printer. Eric took the photo from the printer, “Bren,” He exclaimed. “That’s Larry’s dad!”
