The Jim Crow South’s painful remnants still prevailed in the treatment she received as a female black chemist in their crime lab. Despite her exemplary track record of commitment and service, the very system she was sworn to honor and respect, betrayed her when she needed it most.

A story of one woman's determination to have a rewarding career and the racism and sexism suffered to achieve that goal.
The behind-the-scene's account of the toll a personal legal battle inflicts upon the persons involved was captivating.
The author's portrayal of the difficulties faced in trying to redeem her good name was heart-breaking.
The in's and out's of the legal battle highlighted was -- fascinating but sad.
The author's accurate account of the events throughout this difficult time helps the reader understand the importance of maintaining notes if ever in a similar situation.
Trying to keep peace in their communities is hard enough, but to hear that our police officers have this type of behavior to deal with as it pertains to co-workers is disheartening.
I have read "Commitment, Service and Betrayal"and appreciated the information that was shared, I felt saddened by the fact that racism and sexism raises their ugly heads in every arena.
It's worse that it involved Police officers who have taken oaths to protect their assigned community, yet one of their own is treated so unjustly in their work community?
It shows the strength, courage and endurance of this lady to stand up for justice, for in her heart of hearts she was working for her creator, and she chose to do the right thing. She knew that "God would see her through."
I applaud Ms. Toomer-Frazier for sharing with us, and teaching us. I learned so much. You reminded us that yes we have travel a short distance, but we have a mighty long way yet to go.
