Julia's plan was simple. She'd make Aden notice her by trying to make him jealous, hoping he'd realize that they were destined to be. They'd already established a bond between them, but it never went beyond friendship, and Julia feared it would never move beyond that. Aden had no idea how to react to Julia showing up at one of his normal haunts. They were two different people who lived two different lives, and she was not the kind of girl who fit in with the uncultivated characters he often found himself with. She should have been satisfied with what she had, instead of trying to make her relationship with Aden more than it was. It was obvious that she was wasting her time with him. Their friendship had been a solid one, but now she wasn’t sure. She wiped away her falling tears, hoping she could find a way to get through to him. She knew him so well, and she questioned why she was pursuing something she recognized would never happen, but she couldn’t give up. Not yet. Time was closing in on her, and soon she’d vow to be another man’s wife. She knew it was an unfair move to make Mark her ploy to get to Aden, but she was desperate. Only her plan had backfired, and instead of drawing Aden closer, she’d chased him away. She’d wanted him to love her so badly she’d stooped to the lowest form of manipulation to get his attention, but it had gained her nothing.
