Over one million children are victims every year. This is Matthew's story of how he survived, and who his hero became.
Matthew is a normal five year old boy who loves to draw and play outside with his toy cars and trucks. Sadly, because of his trusting nature he is kidnaped by people who harvest children for profit. Matthew's mother responds quickly by calling the police and they begin their search for him. David Reyes, Matthew's father, goes after the kidnapers with his own unique style. Matthew's father, who is a veteran of the Iraq war, makes everyone involved with his son's kidnaping wish the police would have found them first. As much as the kidnapers planned for their deed they could have never planned for the way Matthew's father rescued his son.
Excerpt
Juan quickly puts the transmission in drive and
punches the gas. The trains air horn is making the car
vibrate along with the thump of the train itself. Juan goes
numb when his car dies again instead of racing off of the
tracks as he had hoped. As the train draws closer the
engineer gives one long deafening blast of the air horn. Just
before the train makes contact with the car, Juan’s eyes
meet with Dave’s eyes. The panic and fear in Juan’s eyes
have no effect on Dave’s calm, steady gaze. The
thunderous crash was heard for miles away. The long
freight train pushed the Cadillac for over a mile before it
could stop it’s momentum. The whole time leaving behind
a trail of twisted metal. The train tossed and flipped the car
to where no one would have been able to tell what the
chunk of metal was.
