Better now or then?---
I was talking with my Mother who is the author. I told her that the title of her book is very STRIKING---because even though Blacks are not forced to sit in the back of the bus nowadays--- I think we are worse off than when she was my age. I say that because people of all colors are suffering in a lot of ways--- sickness, bad economy, street drugs, poor education, and terrorism....all things that she did not have to face when she was my age. So--- back in the 1950's and 1960's there was racial segregation--but in the 21st century we are on the verge of mass destruction of the human race. We get "lynched" by corrupt corporations and crooked insurance companies. Religious fanatics have taken over where the KKK left off.

We can watch this madness all from any seat on the bus.

Hypocrisy....
I am a White person--- originally from Germany. Many White Americans have made foul jokes at me re: Hitler killing the Jews. But then I always ask them how they can say anything, since the history of White Americans is filled with them lynching, harassing and killing the Negroes. I never get an answer to that.


Now we hear how the CIA bungled their "spying" on Iraq.... the Americans have been involved in some dirty politics themselves...

We are still in slavery in the USA. We are in "mental slavery" here. This author MELVIA MILLER has a unique way of illustrating a lot of the hypocrisy about "American freedom" too---and she speaks a lot of truth from point of view of her experiences growing up Black. Miller's books are all enjoyable to read, provocative, and outstanding!!
