This is my first published book. It has over 700 limericks in it.
Born Again - The Limericks of Régis
Limericks, it has been said, represent the lowest form of poetry. They are generally silly or downright funny, perhaps enough to elicit a smile or even a laugh. They are challenging and fun to create because the writer has to manipulate the words in order to make them fit the requirements of the limerick genre.
The limericks in this book are fictional. However, most of them were inspired by real events, experiences, persons, animals, things, etc.
You may find that you think you recognize some of the individuals mentioned. You may even see yourself in one or more of the limericks presented here. Yes, some of them are satirical and perhaps even bitter. That is life I suppose.
This project is for the fun of writing without any real purpose except to indulge my silliness, my childish nature, and perhaps to make the reader smile

There once was a fellow named Dino,
Who went to gamble in Reno;
But the die was cast,
And his luck did not last,
When he had a bit too much vino.
There once was a lady named Claire,
Who thought that she had much flair;
She was rather bold,
She wore dresses of gold,
But sadly birds nested in her hair.
There once was a fellow named Jake,
Who thought he was Sir Francis Drake;
So he built a ship,
To prove his seamanship,
But folks thought he’d had too much fruitcake.

I know that collecting poetry in book form is hard work.
Why do we do this stuff and so?
What motivates us to reach for the sky and way down below?
Are we eternal extroverts trying to make an impact on the world?
Are we just hopeless romantics trying to impress that special girl?
Perhaps it's a quest to do more and reach others in different ways.
Perhaps it's a desire to express our love and compassion in the hope that others will find a better way.
Whatever it is that drives us it's a writing spirit that some just cannot comprehend.
Perhaps it's knowing our thoughts can be preserved in written form long after our life on this earth ends.
