These “Lost Historical Images” are a timely romantic collection of images of how things were before the advent of the auto, a time absent of noisy modern conveniences and a place when electronic invention was still just an idea, an era when you slept at night without the buzz of appliances or the shrill sound of the motorway and spilling light pollution to distract from the wonder of the stars.
This “The English Hoard” of images is as much about the photo as it is about the time and the place. The atmosphere and ambience of the images reminds me of the darker corners and obscured bends of my childhood memories, an era of “Period” Ealing movies and Imagined black and white English classical literature.
