This domestic thriller is filled with "heart-stopping moments and intricate characters", according to reader reviews. Readers report, "The characters and their interactions stayed with me long after I was finished reading" and, "This book drew me in from page one!!"

A community is still in shock by headlines of a missing child last seen at a local park. When a short time later in a nearby town another child disappears from a public place, the police do everything possible to try to find a correlation.

An active, working mother, who is partnered by an equally busy executive husband, and an innocent little girl were once a happy family of three. The couple, suddenly launched into every parent's worst nightmare, must face the tragedy, along with the challenges of suspicion, mistrust, and judgmentalism that the high-profile case brings along with it. The devasting loss of their only child bisects directly to the core of the marriage, and they are forced to discover tiny cracks that had been re-glazed over time--gaps large enough for some opportunistic people who are willing to embed themselves conveniently into the crevasses.

Jeffrey and Teresa Hamilton struggle, together and separately, with the overwhelming feelings of guilt and helplessness when not being able to bring their daughter home. It seems impossible to move forward, yet they have to, and in the most unfavorable way--in the public eye.

Spinning in the space of social media obsessed days with possibilities that not-so-innocent bystanders, and random viewers at home, are capable of adding life-changing obstacles to the case, the couple must find a way to persevere and to keep their faith through what they think is the darkest hour possible. That is until discoveries made in similar cases allow a whole new level of darkness to reveal itself. Emotions run high as the sick truth unfolds, changing everything, and tainting every thought of finding good in anyone.

Even if any children are found alive, in the aftermath of lies and accusations, everyone knows that there may not be any way for the relationships to survive. Is it possible that in addition to losing her daughter, Resa stands to lose everything--her husband, her faith, her mother, her friends, and even herself?

Professional Reviews

Captivating!
Borrowed Children is a complex story with heart-stopping moments and intricate characters. The masterful storytelling leaves the reader slightly unsettled with how closely this fictional narrative feels as if it could happen in real life. The intricate relationships in the book push the reader to cheer for a character in one chapter and groan in disappointment and anguish for that same character in the next chapter. This book makes you stop and think about the seemingly insignificant choices in the day to day and the assumptions you make based on the true desires of your heart. It's worth the read!

Awesome book exploring the fallout of every Parents' worst nightmare
Borrowed Children made me stop and think and catch my breath. The harrowing experience that the main characters survived is vividly described, the way their relationships evolved under the strain drove home that everything people see on the surface is not even close to reality. Borrowed Children made me stop and think about how I would act in different situations...and how I would hope to act...and maybe more importantly how I've judged other people by their reactions to different things. In crisis there are few right or wrong ways to react, yet everything is open to judgement. Bowered Children drives home that Media and Social Media merely offers curated glimpses into people lives, the focus can be good or bad. I really enjoyed Borrowed Children, the characters and their interactions stayed with me long after I was finished reading.

A Riveting Read!
If you want to read a story that opens a word window and transports you to the scene then you have found the book! You are right along with Resa from the very start.. Through all the highs and lows, joy and hurt, anger and pride - you feel it all. It's a hard book to put down once you start reading and the characters stay with you long after you close the book.
