A group of short Western Fiction stories which closely represents the life style and adventures of our early western frontier.
This is a collection of five western fiction short stories that emulate, in part; some unusual activities and events found in diaries, and other accounts written by pioneers and wagon train emigrants. This work is written to bring enjoyable and interesting reading with satisfying short stories for today’s hectic life style. A long novel is often laid down as too lengthy to read during a commute or waiting period . I have endeavored to write Western Fictions that include suspense, mystery , unusual incidents, some violence if necessary, light humor and romance where possible; I hope you enjoy the read as much as I did the writing. The civil war ended with Lee’s sur-render on April 9, 1865, but this was only the beginning of the end. Poor communica-tions caused the loss of many lives in after war battles. President Lincoln was as-sassinated less than a week later.
In Texas the last unnecessary en-gagement occurred at Palmito Ranch just out of Brownsville Texas. This story begins with this battle and follows the life of a bit-ter soldier whose young brother was killed in the fight; his move to go west and his compelling adventure with a strong minded lady. A young ranch hand loses his wife and son in a terrible stampede designed to wipe out his Homestead. This puts him on a path for vengeance that ends when an old Japanese proverb is satisfied. Cut back the roses to get rid of Rattlesnakes. Action , adventure and suspense.
