Monacan Indian Tribe Federally Recognized; Reparations for African American Rejected by Congress.

          On January 29, 2018, Pesident Donald Trump signed legisdlation submited to him by Congress that recognized the Monacan Indian Tribe, located in Viginia, as one of more than  570 federally recognized tribes in the United States.
       Federally recognized tribes have a direct relationship with the United States Government. They can apply for and access federal granrts for housing, health care, senior care, education and economic devemopment.
       Indeed, this is a good thing,  long overdue, for people of the Monacan Tribe who occupied their  land for 15,000 years, long before 1492 A.D., when allegedly  Columbus discovered America; if you want to join with Indian Chief Sitting Bull and declare that to be one of the biggest lies the White Man ever told.  For a number of years Congress rejected the request of the Monacan Indians to be federallyy recognized betfore approving it, makng the Monacan Indian Tribe one of seven of the eleven Indian tribes reognized by Virginia.
          For this action taken by Congress and the President, I commend both  for during the right thing.

Reparatons for African Americans

     In light of the aforementioned positive action of Congress and the President, on behalf of 39 milion African Americans, I herwith appeal to the Congress and President to approve legislation that will award Reparations, long overdue, to African Americans for  244 years of slavery and more than 100 years of  Jim Crow, segregation and discrimination, they have suffered, beginning in 1619 when the first Africans were enslaved in what is now Virginia and the impact, until the present,. of the legacy of slavery. 
           This can begin with approving legislation that Rep. John Conyers (D. Mich) and Rankig member of the House Judiciary Committee, H.R.40 Billl, which he has introduced in the Congress each year beginning in 1989, the latest being in the 115th Congress (2017-2018), that calls for establishing a Commisson to Study Reparations Proposals for African Americans Act - to  examine slavery and discrimination in the colonies and the United States from 1619 to the present and recommend appropriate remedies.
        However, it is now time for Congress to approve legislation that will authorize the payemnt of reparations to  African Americans without delay.
         In this writer's (Uriah J. Fields') appeal, publsihed in 1968, he urged Congress to enact legislation to award reparation to African Americans. He stated:
              Descendants of African American slaves, having  plenty  money in the U. S. Treasury and interest in money controlled by billionaires and millionarires do not need nor desire welfare or any anti-poverty  handout. They need and demand REPARATONS NOW.
        He concluded his appeal stating:
       The payment of reparations to descendants of African American slaves is the only thing that will resolve the racial conflict  threatening to create the biggest crisis in America since the Civil War
     .( It has been 50 years since Fields issued this warning; it now appears to be imminent.)
         With reparations African Americans will develop sound economics, obtain quality education and develop personal enrichment. The net effect being fulfillment for themselves and a better world for all.
            In this year 2018, I renew my appeal, with the request that the Congress and President enact legislation authorizing the payment of reparations to all descendants of African American slaves residing in the United States.
          Again, i express my  heartfelt gratitude to Congress and the President for having approved legislation that  federally recognized the Monacan Indian Tribe.
          Finally, let it be known to every American, that African Americans will  never be satisfied until they receive reparations.
