Rotten Experiences of a Drama Queen

What are you doing to yourself?


     Wanting to right the wrongs of this world is not always bad. But when you want to take on every issue you disagree with, now that's where the bad news comes in. Joining one cause and sticking with it is perhaps best. But when you're full fledged Drama Queen, oh hell, just give me a podium and I could go on for hours.
     You see a guy on TV who's been arrested for drunken driving 35 times and has had his licenses suspended 35 times and is now arrested for running someone over and the Drama Queen fumes. "Let me at him. Put me on the jury. I'd fix him once and for all."
     Next comes a man who works for one of those boiler room telephone harrassing schemes where little old ladies are called and talked into investing their life savings, only to lose all. OK. She's on, "Let that sucker call me. I'd fix his butt."
     And on and on it goes. The Drama Queen goes shopping and takes pity on the poor salespeople in shops, restaurants, etc. She's so polite she comes off sounding like she's over dosed on her Prozac. Onlookers snicker along with the wait staff. They stare at her as though a second head popped up on her shoulders.
     She goes to have her car fixed and tries to make it easier on the mechanic by using her automotive skill to explain the problem with her car. The mechanic excuses himself and enters a back room and laughs hilariously.
     She goes to a bank and refers to the teller as, 'honey'. The woman/man behind the counter glares at her as though she's expecting more money that asked for. The look says, "What'dya want, a tip too?"
     Unlike most Drama Queens, she doesn't shout, harrass, threaten, or act up in general. This Drama Queen is overly polite and got kicked in the butt in return, which led to ulcers, high blood pressure and all sorts of bodily problems. Wow. What a catch for the right guy. So she changes and becomes less friendly, withdraws her emotions to please everyone and you know what? The high blood pressure is normal, the ulcers have healed.
     The moral of the story seems to be 'take pity on no one', along with, 'let the courts handle the drunk driver'. So empathy becomes a dying entity with one more human being and we're running out of sympathy. Let the Prez turn Alaska into a wasteland--hell, we need the oil. Who cares if the lumber industry is turning our forests, of hundred-year old redwoods especially, into desert wastelands. And hell, let's not waste time worrying about endangered species of animals. This is our planet. We happen to top the food chain. To hell with the underlings. The word now is 'be strong, take it all in stride.' And another alternate Drama Queen fades into the dust.
