Christ is with you in the midst of the storm.

And Hezekiah prayed to the LORD : "O LORD, God of Israel, enthroned between the cherubim, you alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth. (1)

Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. (2)

We read about the creation in the book of Genesis and marvel at the glorious works in the universe, but do we ever stop to think that God is not only the creator, but is Lord of all?

Let's consider the storm at sea in the Bible:

Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him, saying, "Lord, save us! We're going to drown!"

He replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.

The men were amazed and asked, "What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!" (3)

He is in control of not only His creation, but the storms in our lives.

Two weeks ago, my husband was rushed to the ER for massive bleeding. One of his arteries had ruptured and he had to undergo emergency surgery. In order to stop the bleeding, the doctors needed to remove one lung.

Feeling overwhelmed and frightened, I gave them my permission saying, "do whatever is necessary, but please save his life."

I cried out to the Lord, asking to spare Tim. I knew God was in control and asked Him to guide the doctors' hands and give them the wisdom to know what to do.

It's been a very rocky road. Two weeks later, my husband, with one lung remaining, continues to struggle, but I see God's hand in the healing process. Last night, after a trach was done, Tim was awake and even smiled several times.

This story could well be yours, too. Maybe a friend or a loved one has experienced something similar, whether through a medical emergency or an accident. God is able to comfort and strengthen you in the midst of your storm.

This Easter, while we reflect on what Jesus did on the cross for us, remember there is power in His blood--cleansing, saving, and healing power.

Mel:

What a beautiful, heartfelt work of art! If there ever were a "God-believing" family on this earth, it would be yours. I see in you & Tim a wonderful image of Christ's love between 2 people, a wonderful role model for all us married folks, & I truly don't think there could be more devoted, genuinely involved parents.

Your faith is so constant, peaceful &, even amidst horrible trials, unwavering. You're an inspiration -- God's love shows through you.

You, your daughter, & Tim are in my daily prayers. If we lift our voices singularly, He hears us & smiles. If we lift our voices in unison, He hears us . . . & He smiles even broader.

Love & blessings -- Linda
