Positive or Negative?

Even though we may not be electricians or electrical engineers, or even trained scientists, we are all familiar with some basic concepts, right? Just think about a simple Battery. It may be an old-fashioned carbon, or new-fangled alkaline, or re-chargeable lithium, or whatever -- but the “bottom line” is that a battery is a source of stored electrical energy.

Whether it is: the larger 12 Volt that is used every day to start our vehicles, or a little rectangular 9V which operates our Smoke Alarm Detectors in our homes, or a series of 1.5V size D, C, AA, or AAA cells which provide light in all our little flashlights, radios, or whatever -- or even the cute lil miniscule flat batteries that power our wrist-watches, clocks, laser pointers, et cetera -- they are all forms of DC, or Direct Current, and each is clearly marked with a Plus (+) or Minus (-) sign, so that we may install them with the correct Polarity -- right? Heck, even little children know this! The contact point, or terminal, thusly marked +/- indicates either Positive anode, or Negative anode, OKAY? When the proper contact button, or switch is pressed, or activated, the Circuit is completed, and VOILA! The “thingee” is operable. Light! Sound! Motion! WHATEVER!

Next, we are all quite aware of the “other” type of electrical energy, known as AC, or Alternating Current, right? Some people refer to this phenomena as “hard-wiring” where a wire, usually made of Copper (Cu) a really good conductor of electricity, has been run from Point A to Point B, and when we simply touch a button, or switch again -- VOILA! The “juice” or electricity FLOWS, and the ceiling light, or table lamp, or toaster, blender, microwave oven -- whatever -- FUNCTIONS! WOW! Now Folks, this AC stuff is more Complex, more Powerful, more Utile... and can be much more DEADLY, if we screw with it, OKAY? Suffice it to say that’s why the electricians and electrical engineers make the BIG BUCKS! So, don’t go shoving any metallic objects that conduct electricity into any cute lil HOLES -- OKAY?

Somewhere, usually miles and miles away, some corporate giant Power Company is generating said AC electricity via huge turbines, or generators, powered by Hydro-Electric (flowing water, as over a dam) or newer Nuclear Energy sources, or even Coal-burning, or Steam powered mechanisms. Thousands upon thousands of miles of wires, whether buried underground, or suspended overhead, transport this electrical energy to all of our homes, businesses, buildings, factories, airports, sea terminals, military bases, et cetera. Again, “juice” flows from Point A to Point B, and BINGO! IT ALL WORKS!

This brings us now to the Human Body itself, which we all know is comprised of all kinds of chemicals, elements, gases, liquids, solids, but the greatest percentage is good ole H2O -- WATER! “Man does not live by bread alone!” Sound familiar? Without water we cannot survive! PERIOD! It is critical for those cute lil molecules of H2O to be in our bodies, and in the proper amount. If we become de-hydrated (low on water) malfunctions WILL OCCUR! Heat Stroke! Fainting! Imbalance of ELECTRO-LYTES! HUH? I am not a physician -- ERGO, am un-schooled in this particular complexity of Nature, and Chemical Engineering. But, the “bottom line” is that each of us has a unique and highly necessary metabolism. All I know is that: What goes IN gets PROCESSED, and what comes OUT is not needed!

Coming back to that one lil molecule of H2O, TWO atoms of Hydrogen (each having a Positive Valence of +1) BONDS with ONE atom of Oxygen (each having a Negative Valence of -2) and VOILA! Two gases combine NATURALLY and form ONE MOLECULE of liquid WATER -- THE ESSENCE OF LIFE!

My belief is that each of us is a WALKING, TALKING HUMAN BATTERY, that has a “normal” charge of Positive or Negative, or maybe when in “perfect balance” possibly NEUTRAL? I DUNNO! But I’ve covered this concept elsewhere, many years ago, in another treatise - SO -- treat this section as pure CONJECTURE -- KAY?

Next, we shall move on to the SPIRIT, or SOUL! Heart, Mind, Body, Soul - Philosophers, Physicians, Theologians, Archeologists, Psychiatrists, other “experts” and “Men of Letters” -- and YES, even POETS have pondered these relationships for MILLENNIA! So, why would I have the audacity to even presume to know anything about such DEEP STUFF? -- ‘cause I’m a Maverick who tends to THINK like one! WHAT IF -- the SPIRIT or SOUL is specifically the Electrical Charge -- POSITIVE or NEGATIVE -- that makes the whole thing WORK?

Ponder if you will, that besides AC and DC electrical energy, scientists have proven the existence also of MAGNETISM, another force of energy that somehow keeps the “Whole Ball of Wax” TOGETHER! From the splitting of an atom (whether by fusion, or fission) to find the tiniest molecular MICRO-cosmic structures, to the HUGE MACRO-cosmic structures of: Planets, Solar Systems, Universes, Galaxies -- ALL -- are held together by an invisible electrical, or Magnetic FORCE! -- POSITIVE and/or NEGATIVE!

Just nine months ago, many thousands, or even MILLIONS of Christian Believers took the time to go to a Church, or other meeting place on ASH WEDNESDAY, to celebrate the beginning of the Lenten Season -- the period of Forty days of Fasting -- in preparation for the rapidly approaching Easter Sunday -- a celebration of RE-BIRTH or RESURRECTION. As an outward sign of their MORTALITY, ashes were placed on their foreheads, and reminder words were spoken:
“Remember man that thou art DUST, and unto DUST thou shalt return!”

Dwell on this simple fact for just a few moments:

You are BORN! You LIVE! An unspecified amount of time, then -You DIE! PERIOD!

End of Story! NO WATER! Dried up Ole PRUNE! DUST! Finito! B-U-T --- IS IT ???

WHAT IF the SPIRIT or SOUL is the force behind it all, an invisible electrical force --POSITIVE or NEGATIVE -- that does, in fact, leave the mere SHELL of the Body, and continue ON? Some great renowned Physicist once said: “Matter can neither be Created, nor Destroyed!”

Is electrical energy really another form of matter? If so, would not this separate, unique composite of “Bound Together” particles still EXIST? Not unlike a “GHOST” could not this SOUL, or SPIRIT somehow survive? Perhaps search and find a friendly HOST to merge, unite, marry, or join with? DUH !!! Could RE-INCARNATION actually be REAL?

Just as we know that a SOUND MIND helps to promote a SOUND BODY, and POSITIVE THINKING helps us to attract POSITIVE FORCES from the Universe, why not a POSITIVE SPIRIT to continue the process ad infinitum???

As I now conclude these ponderings that some might call “Soul-Searching” I am POSITIVE of one thing: Some of YOU will think of these written words as NEGATIVE! Is this guy NUTS, or what? What in the HELL does he SMOKE while he writes?

Yes, Virginia, many former SOULS who once previously walked this “Great Blue Marble” did, in fact, find Inspiration through various means, viz: Some “Main-lined” Heroin (like Sherlock Holmes, aka SIR A.C.D.), or some puffed Opium through a water-pipe (remember Alice in Wonderland?), some may have even enjoyed a little “WEED” (as in Mary Juana), a few were even known to resort to Morphine (as in SLEEP, or Dream inducers), and HECK, even The Beatles were accused of "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds (LSD), and many famous authors and artists were prone to “Stick their noses in the BOTTLE” (good ole LEGAL alcohol), be that as it may --- BUT ---

PERSONALLY --- I have found that a few well-placed meager jiggers of “The Nectar of the gods” -- BAILEY’S IRISH CREAM -- gingerly added to vast amounts of freshly brewed coffee does the JOB quite well! It is the “oil” or “grease” that lubricates the rigid mechanism of the brittle grey matter, helping the creative “juices” to flow -- in profound, profuse profundity -- KAY?

OH! Lest we fail to remember, or too soon forget -- the greater preponderance of fluid so thusly imbibed is in fact, comprised of approximately eight ounces per cup, of those aforementioned cute lil molecules of none other than --- H2O --- WATER!

Does that not provide some measure of “REDEEMING MERIT?”
