An honest god so it seems

is the noblest work of man.

Each nation has created a god, and the god

has always resembled his creators.

He hated and loved what they hated and loved,

and he was always found on the side of these in power.

Each god was intensely patriotic, and destested all nations

but his own.

All theses gods demanded praise, flattery, and worship.

Most were pleased with sacrifice, and the smell of

innocent blood has ever been considered a divine perfume.

All these gods have insisted upon having a vast number

of priests, and the priests have always insisted upon

being supported by the people, and the business of these

priests has been to boost about their God.

In order to please these gods, man must lay his very face

in the dust.

These gods have always been partial to the people who

created them, and have shown this by assisting these people

to rob and destroy others, and to ravish their wives and daughters.

Nothing is so pleasing to these gods as the butchery

of unbelievers.

Nothing so enrages them, as to have someone deny their existence.

Let mankind take their little gods and go

Jesus loves me this I know

though I can't explain how I know,

I don't have to explain...

It is indeed stunning to see how the limited perception of mankind always leads to a projection of some weird god. Nietzsche (who I do not particularly like) said: "God did not create man, man created god." The narrow constancy of mankind makes such an act inevitably result in an insult to whatever image man conjures up. Yet the true GOD is aware of man's disturbing ignorance and perhaps for that reason only asks him to not attempt to explain. The bloodthirsty would be gods of man, are merely a fraction less stupid than mankind; they kiss the feet of the servants of the one True GOD. Thank you for creating and sharing this aware article. I hope it may help some to see The Light. Take care,
