Police say dad, uncle riled by teacher in game who had punished boy......

      We all expect our children to learn the art of sports, no matter which sport that is. It teaches them sportsmanship and to some extent responsibility. These are very good attributes to walk away with from school to continue on the journey of life.
      How can we ever expect our children to understand and behave when we as parents set bad examples for them to follow"
      This article was in my local newspaper on Saturday March 17, 2007  and thought it was worthwhile to pass it along.
      "Ten year olds at an evening basketball tournament watched as two volunteer coaches were beaten bloody by intruders who were reportedly angry because the head coach, a second grade teacher, had sent a misbehaving boy into the hall to quiet down during school.
      Marcus J. Jason 33, of Chataignier and his brother Kevin Gene Jason 29, of Ville Platte were held in lieu of $200,000.00 bail each Friday on charges of second degree battery, terrorizing and inciting a felony."
     "There was chaos and melee and the two brothers just whaled on our two victims," Mamou police Dectective Todd Ortis said. He identified the coach as Michael Fontenot and the assistant coach as Troy Doucet."
     "Marcus Jason, the father of the boy, apparently did not say anything before he started punching Mr. Fontenot. He just walked up to him and started swinging," Detective Ortis said."
     "When Mr. Doucet tried to break up the fight, the officer said he was hit by Kevin Jason. Neigher of the Jason's had a child involved in the basketball tournament."
     "District Attorney Brent Coreil said that Marcus Jason's second grade son reportedly became disruptive during class Monday and that mr. Fontenot sent him into the hallway to quiet down."
     "The teacher's jaw was cracked and his back injured in Monday's fight. The other victim may lose sight in one eye, Mr. Coreil said."
      You just have to wonder what these people were thinking?
