Finishing touches put on building within view of site where five kids died.......

      As I was going through one of my local newspapers on Saturday I came across this article which referenced the Amish school shooting that occurred last September, 2006 at Nickel Mines, Pennsylvania.
     The reason for this particular school shooting being so pronounced within the national news media is mainly due to the quiet, simple lifestyle they incorporate into their daily lives. It does show though, we are not safe no matter where we may live anymore. Danger is lurking around every turn, in every city, town and village across this illustrious nation.

      "Amish students who survived a shooting that killed five of their classmates (all little innocent girls)  plan to attend school in a new building Monday, exactly six months after the massacre, authorities said.
      On Friday, boys and girls played in the sun-drenched schoolyard while Amish adults put finishing touches on the new one-room schoolhouse, which comes with a new name - the New Hope Amish School."
     "Community leaders wanted students in the new building before the school year ends in mid May, Mr. Hart said. Students have been attending classes in a garage since the shooting.
      The new school is within view of the site of the West Nickel Mines Amish School, which was torn down October 12, 2006. Ten days earlier, milk truck driver Charles Carl Roberts IV shot ten girls inside the school and then committed suicide as police closed in."
     Mr. Roberts IV was a very emotionally ill man and for some unknown reason only known to him and God, he made the decision to take his anger out on these very young, innocesnt girls. Perhaps he should have decided to face his demons within him in a more adult mannor, but we will never know why he chose this particular path instead.
      Whatever his reasons may have been, to take out your anger on innocent children is a cowards way to act out. There is no excuse that will ever be acceptable.
      Mr. Roberts, I am sure by now has faced his creator and one can only hope and pray that it was at this time justice has been served.
     "Four of the five wounded girls have returned to school, but the fifth remains in what Mr. Hart called "a comatose-type condition." The six year old girl has a feeding tube and is not able to communicate, he said."
      These little girls will now have to live with what happened to them and their classmates for the rest of their lives. What went on in that one room schoolhouse will never be erased from the memories of these little girls or from their other classmates.
      However, the Amish community is very aware that it is time to help these children to not so much accept, but to understand what happened for their own well being. For a beginning they will be returned to a new school, built for them where there are no memories of what went on before.
     As for me, I will always keep them in my thoughts and prayers as I do many other children who are killed at the hands of incompetent  cowardly adults.
