He died 20 years ago. His birthday was November 6. I was unable to post this at that time.
I didn't write this poem, but it fits.
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.
I still believe that God took him to spare him further pain.
Nobody should have to outlive their child! Sad write; God be with you as you remember your son!

I remember this verse from when I was a youngster. It was in a newspaper, and I remember it being read at many a funeral. I don't think there is an author attributed to it, but it is a lovely verse, and so fitting, especially at the loss of a loved one.

I didn't know about John. A lovely tribute. That poem is in Ann Landers' book she left behind. I put music to it and had the cassette played at my mother's funeral. It's still special I see. Cheers
