Don't let the recession get you down. Take a tip from the little lady.

I have written already that I am a grandpa.  So it goes to say that we have raised our kids and they have blessed us with grandchildren.  When our youngest brought her first grandchild we got the old baby crib out of the garage and set it up in our room because, of course, grandma volunteered to baby sit while my daughter went to work.  We put it away again only to get it out one more time when she came in with grandchild number two.  We decided to leave it set and with good reason, it seems.

Our oldest daughter brought home another grandson and eventually my son got in on the act with our first grand daughter.

That is not what this is about, though.  It seems the crib starts out now empty.  The grandchildren have outgrown it.  However my wife finds use for everything.  Last February I began to notice boxes in shopping bags collecting in the crib.  Eventually I asked her what this was and found it she had seen things that she thought the kids would enjoy next Christmas.  The pile grew and the crib was full of toys in shopping bags.  That is where it is today.  Each time we get a catalog in the mail I knew there is a chance the population in the “Christmas Crib” will stand a chance of becoming a litter bigger.

A lot of kids will get less this Christmas because of the recession ‘or whatever’ but our kids and our grandchildren lucked out.  Ann got ahead of the financial bind once more.  There will be presents under our tree.

I might say though, that with or without presents Christmas is a wonderful time of giving.  Give of yourself and cherish the time you spend together.  Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
