I have always respected the other’s believes, faiths, cultures or opinions.  Lately I followed the affair about the anti-religious plaque displayed in the capital building in Seattle.  I have always admired Governor Chris Gregoire of Washington State for her achievement and her leadership.  I was shocked to see her reaction about the nativity scene.  I understand that we have the separation of the church and state.  I recognize too, that every citizen has his belief, his faith, his religion, his dream and his opinion.

I respect every one of them and I expect that every leader should have the same respect. This is what made the United States the strongest country on earth. Displays of the Nativity, a Menorah, or a Crescent are in fact religious or historical symbols of people’s believes, which create joy, festivity and celebrate our diversity.  I do not grasp why dreams of various tendencies, believes, or faiths cannot coexist the ones with the others without having to trample on whoever it may be.  Let stop the cultural war, when we could coexist
May I quote what Goethe had said in such circumstances?
"We are frightened by our own sins when we see them in others." 
 
I often say: I will fight the left to protect right, and I will fight the right to protect the left for only one single reason, that both the left and the right are for me primarily expressions of human beings, our citizens. With all due respect, I’d wish that by accepting this important and honorable official post, Governor Gregoire would be able to get inspired by the wisdom of Goethe who wrote:

Welche Regierung die beste sei? Diejenige die uns lehrt, uns selber zu regieren.
Which government would be the best? That which teaches us to govern (control) ourselves.
