The antics of the funniest cat I ever met

My twin sister used to live in Ohio, & she was owned by "Cajun," a Maine Coon cat. Cajun adopted her at the local Humane Society. Cajun knew immediately that Karen--my twin sister's name--needed a friend, & was willing to take her under her paw. You see, Karen was sad. Her mother had died five years previously (in 1990) & Karen was having a hard time dealing with Mom's death.

Cajun was a Tortie colored Maine Coon female kitten, 8 months old when she adopted Karen. Her coloration was orange...& brown...& black...with a white, furry belly & four white paws. Her eyes were huge & green. A fur ball.

Cajun & Karen hit it off immediately. Wherever Karen went, the cat was sure to follow. Karen called her a "puppy cat," because she was always at Karen's side. They slept together & played together. When Karen came home from work or church, Dad would tell her that he swore Cajun could hear her car leaving & that she was on the way home, because about a half hour before Karen was scheduled to come home, Cajun would be looking out the windows, looking for her "daughter."

The first time I had the pleasure of meeting Cajun, I went to visit Karen; Karen was at work when Dad brought me home from the airport. Here came Cajun...she was so glad to see her "daughter!" (She thought.) She meowed & meowed, wanting me to love on her. No problem...it wasn't hard, especially when she started purring like a cheetah. The loudest purr I ever heard.

About two hours after I had arrived, here comes Karen home from work. The look of confusion on poor Cajun's face is something I won't soon forget. You could almost read her mind..."You mean there's TWO of them???" Cajun looked at me...then at Karen...back to me...back to Karen...then she had the nerve to hiss at me, 'cause I'd played a trick on her!

A couple of days later, I was taking a bath, & Cajun wandered into the bathroom, meowing. I started talking to her, & she jumped onto the ledge of the bathtub, walking back & forth. I said, "No, Cajun, get down or..." & that was it. Cajun slipped off of the ledge...plop!! Right into the bathtub. "MEE-OWWW!!!!" You never saw a cat move faster in your life. I like to have drowned myself, I was laughing so hard. Another dirty look from Cajun.

The next morning, a sudden thunderstorm blew up. Cajun had forgiven me (again), & was curled up next to my belly, dreaming sweet kitty dreams. A vicious lightning bolt lit up the sky, immediately followed by an explosion of thunder. "MEE-OWWW!!!!" Cajun flew off of the bed...her eyes were absolutely HUGE...her tail was a bottle brush. She gave me the dirtiest look yet...when Karen came home from work, I was still laughing. When she asked what was so funny, I told her, & we both wound up rolling on the floor in laughter.

Karen moved down to Texas to be with me three years ago, & had to leave Cajun behind...where we live doesn't accept pets. It like to have broke her heart, but before she left, she made sure that Cajun was left in a loving household. Cajun now has eight brother & sister kitties to play with.

We both miss her....

Cajun sounds like a great cat. But then they all are. I just love cats. So thanks for this 'tail' of a cat :)
