Here terrorism rears it's ugly head, capering with glee, as the ripples spread outward through the Middle East.
This world is in sad shape. We sit here, held hostage to the whims of a group of fanatics bent on the destruction of life in the name of God. In Israel and Palestine, footage is fed daily to local news desks, so we can share in the misery and fear more fully. Gee thanks.
I find myself getting increasingly angry at what I see. Sharon and Arafat participating in a mutual and profound personal battle of wills, while their fellow citizens get blown to pieces. This mutually personal hatred has greatly diminished any chance of a peaceful resolution between the two nations. It is my opinion, they should both be removed from the equation, and replaced with hopefully more rational people.
Hidden in the dark subterranean bowels of this complex mess are the true benefactors of all this tension and violence. Here terrorism rears it's ugly head, capering with glee, as the ripples spread outward through the Middle East. Saddam Hussein foremost among them. Here is the alleged raison d'etre for the massacre of September 11th: the recognizing of Palestine as an independent state.
Here is the excuse every sneaking, foul, cowardly jerk has ready and waiting, as he contemplates the next horror to be perpetrated upon innocent beings. How they thrive on chaos and discord. How clever they are in their behind the scenes campaigns of disinformation and terror.
All of us, across the globe have to be better than this. Particularly in the Middle East, where this type of campaign appears so effective. In order to stop the escalating madness, we all must learn to think before speaking. We hang by a thread here. If we aren't careful, that thin thread will snap and we will pay a price beyond our worst nightmares.
