Mental illnesses

I think of mental illness as a cancer of the mind.  It should be treated as such.  There is no shame to having cancer.  Wonderful remissions, temporary or permanent, can occur but sometimes they don't.  Treatments and follow-ups are important and should cover the patient's lifetime just like any cancer.  For any cancer can hide for awhile and manifest quickly.  And just like cancer, we can only do what we can do.  We can only do what the patient will allow us to do.  And we can pray.
