Some comments on the revised version of my book.

When I wrote this novel, I was not attempting to ride on the "vampire wave", which seems to be running its course. The main concept of my creation came to being about 30 years ago while I was living in Calgary. I was never able to get the story down on paper until 2009. I felt at the time that I was compelled to write it.

I had not actually planned on publishing the book as I figured I wouldn't be able to afford it as I was on a government pension. I realised I could self publish on Lulu.com for a relatively small amount of money. As I said, I did this last year. I sold approximately 10 copies. When I got the proofs, usually all I had to do was turn to a random page and I would find a glaring error. Now, this was quite a blow to my self-esteem and my self credibility. I became very depressed for a time.

After a few months, I came out of my funk and decided to try a professional online publisher. Unfortunately, this turned out to be a scam and all I got of it was most of a professionally-edited copy. I finished the editing, changed the title slightly (because there are a lot of books with the title "Baker's Dozen") so people would know that it was a work of fantasy. I went  to Create Space and self published it once more. The cover looked much better and I believe I had  detected all of the typos and redundant sentences, of which there were many. The synopsis on the back of the paperback is also a much better one. I believe I've added it here on Author's Den to the description.

One last little bit of self-promotion: anyone who has read free copies or has actually bought the book said that it was a good read. I am just hoping that I can get it into the hands of more people this time and they enjoy it, also.
