Prepare to shed a tear.

Thius could not go in my poems because it is not original. One of the mainstays of Music Hall, the British version of Vaudeville was the dramatic monologue. There were often melodramatic and always sentimental.

The one I've chosen to link to is very appropriate for the current economic situation so prepate to let the tears flow. The writer, George R Simms was a master at twaeking the emotions of working class audiences. Like all of this genre however it was much parodied (and often very rudely parodied especially at my school) by adolescents.

Christmas Day In The Wokhouse

Season's greeting to everyone at Authorsden.

BTW there's no point asking me to print the parody, I tried to recollect it but could only find a few fragments in my memory.
