Another chap from that 80 something- mensch writer, and Poet Laureate of Hatboro, Pa. Ed Galing!

My Poetic World. Ed Galing ( Peerless Press. 3435 Mill Rd. Hatboro, Pa. ) $10.

This is another in a series of chaps by the prolific senior citizen of poetry, Ed Galing. These booklets for the most part are not slickly produced, but they are always amusing. Galing has compiled a scrapbook of photos, mementos, ephemera, etc... that gives the reader an insight into his life and writing career.
Galing, who has socks that are older than us, is a well-known character in the insular world of the small press. His poetry is simply presented, emotive, and compelling. In his poem MY SON AT SIXTY Galing captures the bemusement and affection he has for an almost elderly son: "I look at him curiously/ thinking of how much he resembles/my own father/when he was my son's age.../ I want so much to/reach out and touch/him,/gently/and feel my father's/shadow." I speak to Ed regularly on the phone, and he is full of anecdotes about the "old days" This was a time when there was a cop on every block, a stickball game on every available wall, and the radio wafted, "Who knows the evil that lurks in the heart of men." Good Night Mr. Galing wherever you are...and please keep churning it out.
