A good friend, Rich, who is a ‘Die-Hard’ Republican believer,
Frequently forwards emails to me that BASH Obama,
And/or PRAISE Romney.
The latest one, just two days ago, was
Bitching and Moaning about the Exorbitant
Costs and Losses to Taxpayers from
Obama’s ‘Bailout’ of the Auto Industry.
SO ... out of Curiosity I GOOGLED it.
According to NBC News’ ‘Bottomline’:
First of all the BUSH Administration Originally Approved
The Bailout in 2008, BEFORE Obama was even Elected!
“Chrysler has paid off all the money it received from the
Obama Administration but didn’t cover
another $1.3 billion granted by Pres. Bush.”
“The bailout, though initially started by the prior administration,
has become an issue in the current election.
GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney vociferously opposed the rescue effort in 2008 and ’09 – but has since claimed that he
Helped set the framework that helped GM and Chrysler
Successfully emerge from bankruptcy.”
“GM sold off more than half the shares held by American taxpayers during the 2010 IPO but the Treasury is still the maker’s biggest stockholder at 26% — or 500 million shares. GM’s stock price would need to jump to
$53 for the government to break even.”
NOTE WELL ... the Last Above Quote!
This means that the Entire Projected Loss To Taxpayers
Is Tied To GM’s Stock Market Value!
The More it goes UP, the Less The Treasury LOSES!
Next, I GOOGLED the ‘Cost of Wall St. Bailout’
Now, we all Know THIS was Entirely a
BUSH ADMINISTRATION BAILOUT, RIGHT?
According to www.sourcewatch.org
We have some Really Interesting Figures:
AGENCY SUBTOTALS TOTAL DISBURSED TOTAL MAX. AT-RISK TOTAL OUTSTANDING
Treasury $816.1 billion $5.79 trillion $458.1 billion
FDIC $0.7 billion $10.0 billion $0.7 billion
Federal Reserve $3.95 trillion $8.06 trillion $1.08 trillion
GRAND TOTAL: $4.76 TRILLION DISBURSED $13.87 TRILLION MAX. AT-RISK $1.54 TRILLION OUTSTANDING
PLEASE NOTE ABOVE NUMBERS ARE
TRILLIONS ... NOT ... BILLIONS!
So, from these two Comparisons, what Summary
Can we Interpolate?
If OBAMA’s Auto Bailout RISK was ONLY about 85 BILLION $ -
$85,000,000,000 - that’s 9 ZEROES ...
TEN TIMES that amount would be $850,000,000,000 - 10 ZEROES!
Or ONLY .85 TRILLION $ ...
BUSH’S BAILOUT STILL HAS $1.54 TRILLION
THAT’S EIGHTEEN TIMES MORE ...
LOOKS LIKE THIS:
Are You Getting The Picture Yet?
Of the 13 or 14 TRILLION $ of National Debt ...
Here is Over 10 Percent of it ... From BUSH & Republicans!
ANOTHER One Trillion are from TWO WARS ...
All done on CREDIT ... BY BUSH!
Cost of War - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ...
“Cost of War is a real-time cost estimation counter for the Iraq War and the Afghanistan War maintained by the National Priorities Project. As of June 1, 2010 both wars had a combined estimated cost of over 1 trillion dollars, separately the Iraq War had an estimated cost of 725 billion dollars and the Afghanistan War had an estimated cost of 275 billion dollars. The number is based on US Congress appropriations and does not include "future medical care for soldiers and veterans wounded in the war".”
Based on National Priorities Project Cost of War concept, American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) launched an exhibit title titled "Cost of War" in May 2007, at the close of the National Eyes Wide Open Exhibit. It features ten budget trade-offs displayed on 3x7 foot full-color vinyl banners.
THE TEN BANNERS SAY:
One Day of the Iraq War = 720 Million Dollars, How Would You Spend it?
One Day of the Iraq War = 84 New Elementary Schools
One Day of the Iraq War = 12,478 Elementary School Teachers
One Day of the Iraq War = 95,364 Head Start Places for Children
One Day of the Iraq War = 1,153,846 Children with Free School Lunches
One Day of the Iraq War = 34,904 Four-Year Scholarships for University Students
One Day of the Iraq War = 163,525 People with Health Care
One Day of the Iraq War = 423,529 Children with Health Care
One Day of the Iraq War = 6,482 Families with Homes
One Day of the Iraq War = 1,274,336 Homes with Renewable Energy
AND WE THE PEOPLE WONDER WHY ...
OUR ECONOMY AT HOME S-U-C-K-S !!!
How do YOU Spell ... DUH ?
