The troubling news of the day led me to write those few words. Despite his excellent speeches in general and particularly his Cairo speech, I said that I did not have a good feeling about the recent re-election of President Obama. Many people did not understand my logic and I am sure they will never understand any other though, as they make a conceptual error i.e. they have no clue about the Arab world and its dynamics. As I was born in Tunisia and mingled with the Arabs since I was a baby, I know a thing or two about their character. The Arabs like those who submit to them. They tolerate them as long as they allow them to be the ones who have the power and feel respected.
This arrangement was implemented only by the Arabs and not by the Berbers, as the Berbers were allied with the Jews for centuries and even before the Arab conquest. After the Arab conquest of North Africa, the Jews fought with the Berbers against the Arabs. When they lost the battle many were converted to Islam against their will, by the power of the sword. The Berbers where poor and couldn’t paid the demanded sort of tax, so they had to fight for and with the Arab army. Most of the Jews didn’t want to fight with the enemy and had to pay a sort of tax which was called the Dhimi, in order to be tolerated by the Arabs.
The Democrats, who were my friends, looked at me as if I came from another planet. I realized then, that when they disagreed with me, their response always used the same argument. Their approach seemed to be coached, as it was one of delegitimizing, discrediting. This is not what I expected from the American parties, as when I first came to the United States, I didn’t care who was elected, I trusted that the Democrats and the Republicans were both reasonable and fair. Over forty one years ago, in Germany, where I was living at that time, I based my conclusion on the fact that when I filled out my application to visit the United States, I had to answer the following question:
Have you ever been in any communist or socialist party or country? My answer was NO.
Since then I was confident that America is a safe country in this regard.
I was happy to know that the United States was not oriented towards any communist or dictatorial countries or parties. The City of New York, where I wanted to land for the first time, had a democrat, Mayor Beame at its helm. At that time, New York was financially in trouble. I presented the Golden Apple to Mayor Beame to help New York City. Having survived WWII, I was fully assured that I could safely invest my money and my efforts to create jobs in the United States with my business and my knowledge. That’s what I did, and later I brought my family. I was again reassured when I saw that the Republican Party played fair when Richard Nixon was in trouble and the Republicans advised him to resign. This act reconfirmed to me what I just said above.
I have never believed that the Arab spring was spontaneous, as I had information from friends in North Africa, who told me that the US Embassy played a role in the “Jasmin Revolution”.
In regard to Benghazi, I followed the event through many international sources and media as I am fluent in many languages. I learned from the beginning that someone was lying. I knew from day one that the “truth” that was presented was a cover-up and I had hinted the truth I knew. But no one wanted to believe me. I learned early on, from my dad, that if someone cannot see the truth it is not up to us to open his eyes. I hope that the real truth will emerge, for the best of the country, the American people and the rest of the world.
