BARB: I am totaly flabbergasted by the Greed from Annapolis! All tolls were raised not long ago from .40 cents to .75 cents - an 87.5% Increase! Now, that .75 cents has JUMPED to $1.40 ONE WAY! This is another 87% increase!
Exactly 8 days before July 1st, we E-Z Pass subscribers got a Last Minute Notice to this effect! This notice told us that the 'CREEPS' in the State House QUIETLY PASSED THIS RESOLUTION WAY BACK IN SEPTEMBER 2011 ...
JUST WHEN & WHERE DID THE PUBLIC GET ANY OPPORTUNITY TO FIGHT THIS INCREASE???
AS A 72 YEAR-OLD RETIREE, I SIMPLY CANNOT AFFORD THIS EXORBITANT 'SLAP IN THE FACE' TO MARYLAND RESIDENTS!
AND, WE ALL KNOW THESE 'USURY' CHARGES WILL SOMEHOW GET 'SIPHONED OUT' OF THE TRANSPORTATION BUDGET, AND BE USED FOR 'OTHER' PURPOSES! IT IS A CRIME !!!
I WOULD NOT VOTE FOR O'MALLEY NOW, EVEN FOR 'DOG-CATCHER' !!!

You're right, Tom, I'm being silly but I'd seriously like to know what a rain tax actually taxes. Machines to dry wet roads? Culverts and sewers? I'm utterly confused.

We were just hit with a tollway increase as well. Neglect of the infrastructure in this country is appalling. The way that politicians are now dealing with it in an economy that does not produce enough taxes to cover the band-aid approaches to infrastructure fixes is to tax the current users.
Immigration and and massive movement to the cities caused by unemployment is something that must be addressed one way or the other. If it is being done badly, it needs to be revealed.. Thanks for doing that.
