You make some very good points. And, as you know, I'm probably more against war than any one, preferring instead to attack terrorism directly at its source like has been going on for several years, leaving nothing behind for terrorists to use against us or anyone.

Still, I support the president in his difficult decisions based on information you and I are not able to get from our perspective. That's why we made him, "Commander-in-Chief." In the meantime, strikes are being carried out all over the world against terrorists that we don't even know about.

I read an article in Playboy a few months back before all this was in the news. It seems that the Syrian rebels had been forced to leave the country for Jordan and Turkey because extremists from Iraq, driven out by the Americans there had joined in the fight against the Damascus regime, and then taken over, systematically killing moderate rebels by setting up roadblocks and demanding loyalty to terrorism… the formation of ISIS.

In spite of forcing most of the rebels out of Syria into underground positions like the French in World War II, by the time the article was published, last April, I believe, the rebels had succeeded in recovering about half of the territory lost to ISIS, and admirable achievement without the help of nearly anyone. That's what drove ISIS back into Iraq, seeing that territory, mostly Sunni, as easy pickings.

I'm with the president about "boots on the ground," and even heavy military equipment supply. But there is much the world community can do to help those trying to take back their own countries for the Arab Spring which will take many years to bloom and happen, like it takes conservatives here to see the light to the future.

You are assuming that the U.S. Government acts logically and rationally.In all my adult life I have never seen them act in that capacity. It's always either all about the money or some Senator Chicken Little crying that the sky is falling. Then, like lemmings, the rest of our elected representatives follow him over the cliff. Good luck in getting people to think who have not demonstrated that capability.
