Mr. Robert Serry is right. The Palestinians did it to themselves by believing to defeat Israel with the rockets. But even as the Europeans recognize the Palestinians, there is no one single country that is fair. They all omit to mention that Hamas is a terrorist organization. The Egyptian government and the Egyptian high court have just declared that Hamas is a terrorist organization. Israel cannot afford to recognize or to make any concessions to the Palestinians, as long as the problem with Hamas is not resolved.
Furthermore, no one has proven that the Palestinians have any right to the lands of Judea and Samaria, which, as everyone knows are Jewish lands. Israel should not be afraid of anybody. In 1967, Israel prevailed on Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Iraq in six days. The Europeans and the Americans make a great mistake to play this game with Israel. Israel is more than it has been before.
The UN wants to see the renewal of talks between the two parties. Where was the UN when the Obama Administration was twisting the arm of Israel, forcing it to negotiate, by increasing the pressure? I do not believe that the Palestinians want to negotiate. They think only one thing: eliminating Israel altogether. This is the first reason why Israel cannot negotiate. Furthermore, I don’t think Israel should negotiate as long as Hamas is around. One cannot negotiate under threat. Egypt does not recognize Hamas and has called it terrorist. The best thing is to return Gaza to the Egyptians. They know how to handle them, as Gaza was under Egyptian rule before.
It is illogic to rebuild Gaza, knowing that Hamas is there. The US and Europe want Hamas to exist. We should not forget that Israel is well capable of fighting Hamas or any other force, because they have fought against the entire Arab world, while they were only 600,000 people. Today, there are over 7 million Jewish Israelis. They can do better. As for the Europeans, especially those who recognized the PLO they are cowards.
As Serry said, “The Government of National Consensus in Gaza has still not taken up its rightful governance and security functions and has no control over the crossings; civil service reform is urgently required and thousands of government staff are still not being paid.”
The first step is to remove Hamas, prior to any discussion or negotiation. Even if there were negotiations, Abbas could never keep his part of the deal, as he would immediately be put down by Hamas.
WWII made us lose six million Jews, and every family has at least a family member to mourn. We cannot afford this anymore. The Jewish people have to fight. The Jews of the Arab countries have lost more than the Palestinians have lost. Do the UN and Europe view this as normal?
