Which is worse?

Professor Penwose, Kiwi

I do not know which is worse free tv with lousy shows, or movies and stuff you have to pay for? Obviously the later is highly despicable, as I have always been an advocate of Freedom of Free, if it ain’t free I ain’t watching it.

I’ve been around since the holy conception of television and always found programming financed by commercials, which gave us potty break interludes and other reasons to disrupt the mood. I used to enjoy visiting friends and relatives and seeing their various ways of not watching commercials.
In today’s Cable/Satellite TV world the breaks are gone and viewers must sit fidgeting and grimacing or wearing diapers, which I will never do, until I have to.
If more peoples felt this way we would pay for nothing.

I remember black and white tv, it wasn’t color, but it was free. Most of us never noticed the difference because our very lives were black and white because we were so poor we could not afford to live in color.
It never ceased to amaze me how we literally had nothing to eat, yet had a TV?

I always appreciated the commercial breaks because my “job” was to walk around in various spots holding the rabbit ears antenna above my head. My parents called me, “their good little receptor.” I didn’t find out until years latter in therapy how they were patronizing me, but my psycho person says that is just the tip of a big iceberg and much deeper darker latent “Things” are indicated lying dormant, that we will not go into at this time.

The point being, free tv is becoming less of a good thing. A quick look at today’s lineup shows two competitive contestant shows occupying Prime Time Programming slots one after the other, making the entire evening unsuitable for intelligent viewing except for the Ten O’clock slot, which I rarely stay awake for.

It is no wonder people are wandering the streets after dark.

Penwose Out,

I have parallel recollections of our symbiotic view of television. But I have advanced one more notch. I have a free TV that I exercise to. The picture is as sharp as my cable TV, but I can only get one channel and the 10 pm news. We lost the remote and cannot find other local channels.

I pay a lot for cable TV, but still have a lot of those convenient potty, snack and solitaire playing breaks that I either like or dislike depending upon the show. What I do like is something called, "on-demand." Where I can view during the day on either my computers or my television sets, all on Wi-Fi, any program that has previously aired (nice term), although some of them charge and I will not watch them. Again, because I've a lot for this service and probably shouldn't have any commercials at all.

Bye, George,

Ron
