What exactly are thoughts? It can be defined as a suggestion or an idea that occurs suddenly in the mind for the thinking process. Taking a thought involves acceptance of the thought and to possess it voluntarily. So the question is where do thoughts come from?

          In Matthew 6:25-33, it is written twice in this passage to ‘take no thought.’ Taking a thought is taking possession of your mind. Who is it that wants to take possession of your mind and why?

          We have the ability to think constantly and thoughts are powerful and can become a reality. Thoughts can serve as the beginning or foundation of a creative process, and that is why there is always a battle for your mind. Even though we are in the world, but not of the world, the enemy is after your mind. He wants to occupy space.

          Just because you are a born again child of God, do not think that the enemy will not attack your mind. He wants you to take his thoughts to produce the evil outcome of his plan, using the creative process that we possess from being made in the image and likeness of God.

          There is the instruction in Romans 12:2, to renew the mind because of the world system that is in operation around us. God does not want us to pattern our lives after and with the world, as it will cause a contamination within. How do we renew our mind? It is done through reading and spending time in the Word. The Word of God will speak as you are in a place to listen and hear. “^It is the Spirit that gives life. The flesh is of no help. The words I speak to you are spirit and life.” John 6:63 NLV.

          As there is a battle for the mind, God already has a strategy in place for us to use against the enemy. In Ephesians 6:17, we are instructed to take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit, which is the Word of God. The helmet of salvation is a part of the armor of God that is to be worn against the attack of the enemy. The helmet protects the head, which could result in death from the attack spiritually and physically.

          The helmet of salvation protects from the suggestion of the enemy as he attempts to plant seeds of destruction in our minds. His job description is outlined in John 10:10. He is a thief attempting to steal, kill, and destroy what God has ordained for you. He wants to execute the system of sabotage against you.

          We have to weigh thoughts that we are to cast down the vain imaginations. As soon as you know that the enemy is after your mind, you need to be on high alert and ask what he is attempting to steal, kill and destroy in your life. He is using your mind against you. Do not forget in the midst of the battle, to use the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God to cast down those thoughts. It may be hard in the beginning, but do not stop, he is attempting to wear you out so that he can change the time and seasons.

          Have you ever heard the term, ‘I’m going to give them a piece of my mind? Please do not take it. It is maybe poison. Do not give yours away because it may be too valuable for anyone to handle!

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
