The Forest And The Lake I went to the forest today. That magic place that quiets my soul and reminds me of my place in the world. I wore a hat that had belonged to my father, who long ago taught me to appreciate the beauty that can be found. I often wear that hat when I go there. It gives me the feeling that he's there too. And perhaps he is, in one way or another. His footsteps were not so different from mine. I found the perfect peaceful spot. A secluded bench on the edge of a lake surrounded by cottonwood trees. I sat silently on that bench and stared at the lake for hours, mesmerized by its changing colors, amazed by the beauty which was a reflection of the beauty of the world. I was immersed in the coolness of the breeze and soothed by the music of birds in the trees. A mourning dove called to me from another shore and I knew I'd heard that voice somewhere before. There's a great deal of beauty and peace in this world, and a great deal of ugliness too. Sometimes we find, no matter how hard we try, that we cannot eliminate the ugliness. We cannot escape from the strife. So, instead, we must search for the beauty and learn to appreciate the peace when we find it. Don't let the beauty pass by unnoticed. Mark Sebring (2010)

The forest is my church. 🚶‍♂️

There is a bird outside my school-room window -
A little bird, I can not tell his name;
He sings a song of gladness for the future;
His little heart ne'er contemplates the rain.

To him the world is full of sunshine;
No cloud e'er flecks his sky of blue;
He sings of summer days and sunny weather
Of a little mate with loving heart and true.

Oh, could I sing with such a disposition;
See only sunshine in the days to come;
Bring pleasure to the lives I find about me,
And so plan my eternal home.

Radiant River

Rush of water
Gliding on by
What a beautiful river
Beautiful, yet shy

Bubbles rise
To the surface no less
I giggle as they pop
With joy I'm blessed

I and the river,
The river and I
Reflecting the clouds
High in the sky

Reflect my love for the water,
My passion, my heart
A vibrant setting
That stunning work of art
