Third in the Hollow Spectres series.
Click here to go back to the 2nd entry: Reflections

Deep in guttural spaces
of faint dustclouds
in distant galaxies,
you hide,
calling out to me,
with destined cry --
that cannot be denied.

There's no escape from you...
I know, because I've tried.
Above all else, I fear you most;
gold metronome you ride;

As you, temporal thief,
creep and crawl,
through the narrow neck
of the passage,
between penance
and withdrawal;
across the gateway
of eternity,
your blood and breath
you scrawl.

Your subtle barbs and epithets
disrobing the thoughts,
churning up
the receptacle of sand;

As I strain --
to hear,
sane echoes in the void;
and feign --
understanding
of rainbowed patterns
in your hand;

Without disdain --
yet hoping to avoid,
the price you keep demanding:
that ev'rything
bear the mark...
of your harsh brand;

As sillhouettes form,
from every grain,
like patterned stain,
in your Sea of Silica;
a masterful design
that had long ago
been planned.

And though my dreams belie my fear;
Upon my hopes, I'll steadfast stand,
Concentric ripples are you I hear;
and as you speak --
I follow...
your command;

And you will know,
as your bold sound
consumes...
while you expand;

that still...

I am reading your poetry.
