There are only two things Australians care about more than keeping Australia free of refugees, beer and cricket.
They are rather fond of their national song too. Here's a modern version by two English folk singers.

Seeking Asylum

by Norfolk and Good

Once a Aussie coastguard patrolled a remote shore
up in the Northern Territory
When he came upon an A-rab lying at the water's edge.
"You've come a - seeking Asylum with me"

CHORUS
Seeking asylum, seeking asylum
You've come a seeking asylum with me
You're not a refugee, you are an I-raq-i boy,
Don't come a - seeking asylum with me

"Please" said the fellahin, "give me some water,
I'm just a kurd who wants to be free."
"Kurdish my arshole, you are with Osama's boys,
Don't come a - seeking asylum with me."

CHORUS

Seeking asylum, seeking asylum
You've come a seeking asylum with me
You're not a refugee, you are an I-raq-i boy,
Don't come a - seeking asylum with me

Up jumped the Arab, tried to make a run for it.
If he reached the outback he would be free.
A passing Aborigine felled him with a boomerang,
"Don't come a - seeking asylum with me

CHORUS

Seeking asylum, seeking asylum
You've come a seeking asylum with me
You're not a refugee, you are an I-raq-i boy,
Don't come a seeking asylum with me

Along came the coastguard, cuffed the little arab man,
left him tied up by a coolibah tree,
saying "I'll be back soon, bringing reinforcements,
Don't come a seeking asylum with me."

CHORUS

Seeking asylum, seeking asylum
You've come a seeking asylum with me
You're not a refugee, you are an I-raq-i boy,
Don't come a seeking asylum with me

Off went the coastguard, returning in a humvee,
with him rode troopers, one, two, three.
They shot down the refugee, said he was a terrorist,
Don't come a - seeking asylum with me.

CHORUS

Seeking asylum, seeking asylum
You've come a seeking asylum with me
You're not a refugee, you are an I-raq-i boy,
Don't come a seeking a - sy - lum - with - me

Very well done Ian.....Only, over here its a sore subject..:o|

Many people think Australia isn't fair.....but they don't know the full story, only what they read on in the news...It's good to have a laugh about such serious subjects.Sometimes it makes us see things more clearly..I enjoyed....I like how you wrote this out....ty, Dani
