A Finance Broker, an old folk ballad with a new lyric is recorded as part of my Norfolk & Good project with musician Brother Bastion.
In the light of the crisis in financial markets the updated lyric is even more poignant.

A Finance Broker came to our town
To find a lady investor
He made a big show
Of his portfolio
And soon knew he had impre - essed her

CHORUS
La - do - doo - la - di - doo - dum - day
La - di - doo - la - di - day - dee
He chattered and he fussed
About his investment trust
And he won the heart of the la - a -dy

She said "oh sir" will you help me please
In finance I am deficient
My credit rating is hibernating
My savings are not tax effi - ic -ient

CHORUS
La - do - doo - la - di - doo - dum - day
La - di - doo - la - di - day - dee
He chattered and he fussed
About his investment trust
And he won the heart of the la - a -dy

He took full control of her bankroll
She followed his advice to the letter
He said "I've grown fond
Of your corporate bonds
But your fixed assets could be be - et - ter

CHORUS
La - do - doo - la - di - doo - dum - day
La - di - doo - la - di - day - dee
He chattered and he fussed
About his investment trust
And he won the heart of the la - a -dy

Sad to say she rued the day
That she gave him power of attorney
He took great pains
to guard his capital gains
And charged her a management fee

CHORUS
La - do - doo - la - di - doo - dum - day
La - di - doo - la - di - day - dee
He chattered and he fussed
About his investment trust
And he won the heart of the la - a -dy

Although she cussed he cashed in her trust
having declared her insolvent.
Though she was in the red
She took him to her bed
And he left her a little endow-ow-ment

CHORUS
La - do - doo - la - di - doo - dum - day
La - di - doo - la - di - day - dee
He chattered and he fussed
About his investment trust
And he won the heart of the la - a -dy
