The latest paperback in this Forgotten Hollywood series by author Manny Pacheco is interesting, and a fresh take on faces you know in cinema, but have stories seldom shared in public.
Son of Forgotten Hollywood Forgotten History is the long anticipated sequel to the award-winning Forgotten Hollywood Forgotten History, and it tells more rarely shared American stories through the eyes of 21 character actors of Hollywood s Golden Age, including Frank Morgan, Peter Lorre, Cesar Romero, Majorie Main, Andy Devine, Alan Hale Sr., Leo Gorcey, Jack Carson, and Lon Chaney Jr.
Son of Forgotten Hollywood Forgotten History is part of the Forgotten Hollywood Book-Series, and it's officially in gift stores, bookshops, and iconic locations, such as the Hollywood Heritage Museum.
Author Manny Pacheco s abiding fascination with cinema s favorite character actors has enjoyed a growing acclaim since his first award-winning book, Forgotten Hollywood, Forgotten History now included in the library collections of the American Film Institute, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Writers Guild Foundation, the SAG Foundation, among others.
A Southern California television and radio personality for over three decades, Pacheco co-hosted the Daytime Emmy-nominated, In Studio; and he currently hosts Forgotten Hollywood, a weekly program in Southern California on The Spa radio network. The show is also streamed worldwide. He recently signed a theatrical deal with Vision4Media to turn his literary works into a documentary.
"Within this rich, untold history of Hollywood lies a treasure trove of great and poignant social commentary...
...Our goal here is not to be didactic, but simply to relate the untold stories of the actors, directors, and movies from a 'forgotten' Hollywood era that, when revealed, suddenly become powerful reminders of how much work we have left to do.
Social Commentary is nothing new in motion pictures. Movies have always served as both a mirror and barometer to the consciousness of our nation."
Gary Lycan, Radio Columnist, Orange County Register
The title is "Son of Forgotten Hollywood" but it also stands tall on its own merits as a welcome, entertaining and informative volume in what is destined to be a continuing book series.
Author Manny Pacheco gives fresh life to more of our favorite character actors - Book 1 was a gem, Book 2 is another jewel in the crown Pacheco wears as a knowledgeable chronicler of Hollywood history - and names we may not know, but faces we recognize in our favorite black and white and color movie favorites.
If you are new to this author's works, both Book 1 and Book 2 should be in your collection.
Charles Redner, Cable Television Host
Son of Forgotten Hollywood Forgotten History" is perhaps the most perfect title for a book that looks back on Hollywood. And no, you need not have read the original to appreciate sequel but I recommend that one should.
I recently had the pleasure of interviewing author, Manny Pacheco about his new book on the "Write Now Show" telecast over a southern California cable channel. The books tells the stories of the great supporting actors during the Golden Age of Hollywood, tied into a specific time in U. S. history, and important social and political issues.
Superbly crafted the books are filled with important facts and overflowing with little known movie trivia. Both Hollywood and general U.S. history buffs will enjoy this book.
